The new 848 enjoys all the performance advancements of the entire Superbike family, while adding its own innovations to redefine the middleweight sport bike class.

The words 'agile' and 'refined' aptly describe the 848. At 168 kg (369 lbs) the 848 is an amazing 20 kg (44 lbs) lighter than its predecessor, and a significant 5 kg (11 lbs) lighter than its larger capacity brother, the 1098.

The highly advanced 848 engine uses an improved method of engine case production in which cases are vacuum die-cast formed. While providing significant weight savings of more than 3 kg (6.5 lbs), this method also ensures consistent wall thickness and increased strength. Further refinements include a sophisticated wet clutch that offers 1 kg (2.2 lbs) less weight, a much higher service life, improved clutch feel and quiet operation.

With the first twist of the wrist, the powerful rush of the Testastretta Evoluzione engine confirms that the rules have changed. The 848's 134 hp is not only 30% more powerful than its predecessor, but it provides a power-to-weight ratio even better than the potent 999.

The Ducati Superbike entry-level model is the 749. Its 748 cc Testastretta engine supplies 108 hp at 10,000 rpm and 8.2 kgm (59.3 lb-ft) of torque at 8,500 rpm with constantly smooth, linear power delivery.

The L-twin Testastretta engines are very compact, making the finished motorcycles incredibly narrow and agile, much like their racing cousins. They also offer excellent torque and remarkably vigorous power delivery compared to four cylinder engines. Ducati Superbikes have incredible acceleration and provide outstanding riding thrills.

In addition to the Testastretta engine and the signature trellis frame, the features of the 749 are the culmination of decades of development and research derived from racing victories: advanced electronics, state-of-the-art ergonomics and the best aerodynamics in their class.

The 749 chassis set-up comprises a fully adjustable upside down Showa fork with Sachs rear shock, which is also fully adjustable, offering precision handling to meet the expectations of each and every rider.

The chassis set-up is completed with a steering damper that guarantees better stability on the front end and, consequently, better bike control

If the Ducati Monster is not enough to make a fashion statement, this time they have got a bevy of beauties to decorate the showpiece art of motorcycling world. The Ducati Monster Art was on display at an event called Mode City from September 5 to 7 at the Porte de Versailles (Paris), which is holding the second edition of the world meeting of lingerie and bath. So in fact, the Monster was there to add the extra glamour to the show and not vice versa.

The Monster Art is a new philosophy that wants to promote Ducati. Why Ducati needs any kind of promotion, dont ask me. Anyway, Ducati owners can select to colour their bike in 10 different shades which are applicable to the tank, rear cowl and the front mudguard. The colours are 'Amaranto Glossy' like a shade of crimson red, 'Rosso GP' in red, 'Arancione Scrambler' in orange, 'Oro Puro' a mixture of orange and yellow, 'Giallo Ducati' in the origina Ducati yellow, 'Verde Tricolore' in the shade of green found on the Italian flag, 'Azurro Mediterrano' and 'Blu Italia' in shades of blue, 'Lilla Glamour', a kind of shade that I dont know, but it is very feminine and 'Argento Vivo' in a ash colour shade. Obviously Ducati is heavily promoting the Monster among the ladies too.
It was also a perfect stage to advocate the new colour scheme and several such events are being organized which will compliment each other.
There is also another feature, the Monster Mode City Tour where you will get to ride pillion for 30 minutes behind the four beautiful "Motesses" along the France capital.
